KKR Blank Delhi Capitals In Delhi
Defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) blanked Delhi Capitals in Delhi by 14 runs in match 48 of the IPL 2025 season. Batting first, the KKR mounted 204-9 from 20 overs without notching up a single individual half-century. Relying on collective team brilliance, openers Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Sunil Narine got off to a flier before captain Ajinkya Rahane, number four Angkrish Raghuvanshi and Rinku Singh scored crucial runs in the middle overs. For the Capitals, Mitchell Starc picked up 3-43 while Axar Patel and Vipraj Nigam chipped in with two wickets each.
In response, the Capitals managed just 190-9 from 20 overs despite Faf du Plessis’ 45-ball 62 at the top. Axar Patel (43 off 23) and Vipraj Nigam (38 off 19) also clubbed quick runs, but Sunil Narine (3-29) and Varun Chakravarthy’s (2-39) spin threat tangled up the hosts in their run-chase.
Colombo Strikers, Jaffna Kings Terminated From LPL 2025
Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) and the IPG Group have terminated Colombo Strikers and Jaffna Kings franchises from the Lanka Premier League (LPL). According to an official statement, both franchises failed to fulfil the contractual obligations outlined in their agreements with the IPG Group. Nat Sciver-Brunt has been named as the captain of the England women’s cricket team, replacing Heather Knight after the Ashes debacle in Australia. Sciver-Brunt previously served as Knight’s deputy. Currently on maternity leave, the 32-year-old is expected to lead the English team in their upcoming home series against West Indies and India.
England women will host West Indies in a series of three T20Is and three ODIs between May 21 and June 7. Later that month, the Indian women’s team will tour England to play five T20I matches and three ODIs.
Shadman Islam’s Ton Take Bangladesh Ahead
Bangladesh went over and above Zimbabwe’s 227-run total by 64 runs at close of play on Day 2 of the series-deciding second Test in Chattogram. Zimbabwe’s overnight pair of Tafadzwa Tsiga and Blessing Muzarabani failed to add a run as Bangladeshi spinner Taijul Islam picked up his sixth wicket of the innings to claim figures of 6-60.
Bangladesh opener Shadman Islam notched up the second century of his career by scoring 120 runs from 181 balls. Crafting a 118-run partnership with opening partner Anamul Haque and another 76 runs with number three Mominul Haque, Shadman motored Bangladesh to the brink of Zimbabwe’s total. For the visitors, Vincent Masekesa struck back with three late wickets in the day as the hosts slipped from 259-3 to 291-7 by stumps.
