Nicholas Pooran Announces Retirement From International Cricket
Explosive wicketkeeper-batter Nicholas Pooran has announced his retirement from international cricket, at the age of just 29. A veteran of 61 ODIs and 106 T20I matches for West Indies, the cricketer wrote a farewell message stating how much the game meant to him.
Pooran tallied 2,275 runs in 97 T20I innings at an average of 26.14 and with a blistering strike rate of 136.39. He also scored nearly 2,000 runs in 58 ODI innings at 39.66 with three tons and 11 half-centuries. The Trinidad and Tobago stumper will continue to ply his trade in franchise T20 cricket.
Ruturaj Gaikwad Pens County 2025 Deal With Yorkshire
CSK captain and Indian batter Ruturaj Gaikwad has penned a County deal with the Yorkshire cricket club for the 2025 Championship and One-Day Cup. Gaikwad recently played a handful of IPL 2025 matches for CSK before an elbow injury forced him out of the competition.
Nonetheless, the 28-year-old is expected to play five County Championship Division One matches, as well as several Metro Bank One-Day Cup 2025 fixtures.
South Africa Name Squad Playing XI For WTC 2025 Final
The South African team management has named South Africa’s playing XI for the upcoming WTC 2025 final match against Australia at Lord’s in London from June 11 onwards. Temba Bavuma will continue to lead the team, and he will be accompanied by several senior pros like Aiden Markram, ace spinner Keshav Maharaj and Kagiso Rabada.
Apart from Rabada, South Africa’s pace attack for the match comprises of Lungi Ngidi and Marco Jansen. In-form batters David Bedingham and Ryan Rickelton will start out as some of the primary candidates with the bat for the Proteas.
AUS Name Labuschagne As New Opener In WTC 2025 Playing XI
Following South Africa’s announcement, Australia also named their 11 combatants for the WTC 2025 final in Lord’s. In an interesting change, Australia confirmed Marnus Labuschagne as a new opening partner for seasoned campaigner Usman Khawaja. All-rounder Cameron Green will be making his return to the Australian playing XI, alongside ace fast bowler Josh Hazlewood. Captain Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc and legendary spinner Nathan Lyon will be helming Australia’s bowling line-up.
Apart from the openers, Travis Head and Steve Smith will start out as some of the primary Australian batters in the middle and top order.
Hayley Matthews To Lead WI-W Against SA
West Indies all-rounder Hayley Matthews will continue to lead her team in the upcoming white-ball women’s fixtures against South Africa. Both West Indies and South Africa are scheduled to face each other in three ODIs and three T20I matches between June 11 and June 23.
West Indies named a common 15-player squad for both series, which features Shemaine Campbelle as vice-captain.
