England wicketkeeper-batter Amy Jones gained three spots to jump to number four on the latest ICC rankings for women’s ODI batters. The 31-year-old, soon to be 32, clattered twin match-winning hundreds for England Women in their recent 3-0 triumph over the visiting West Indies team.

Soaring past Ellyse Perry, Hayley Matthews and Alyssa Healy in the process of her latest ranking surge, Amy Jones is inching closer towards legendary Indian opener Smriti Mandhana and firebrand South African batter Laura Wolvaardt for the number one spot on the ICC charts. At present, the Proteas batter is placed on top of the rankings, following by Mandhana.

Amy Jones Continues Rise In ODI Rankings Update

On May 30 in Derby late last month, England opener Amy Jones smeared 122 runs off 121 balls with 15 fours and a six against West Indies Women to notch up her maiden ODI hundred, in a match-winning cause no less. A couple of days later in Leicester, Jones struck her second successive century through the course of cracking 129 runs from just 98 balls against the same opponents with 20 elegant boundaries.

Amy’s prolific run in ODIs has now catapulted her to number four on the latest ICC rankings for women’s batters. With 689 rating points, the seasoned English campaigner now finds herself only behind table-topper Laura Wolvaardt, Indian opener Smriti Mandhana and national teammate Natalie Sciver-Brunt.

Australia’s Ellyse Perry retained her number five position, while Hayley Matthews and Alyssa Healy slipped to number six and number seven respectively owing to Amy Jones’ latest insurgence. Sri Lankan all-rounder Chamari Athapaththu is ranked eighth on the ICC charts for women’s ODI batters, and she is followed by belligerent Australian duo of Beth Mooney and Ashleigh Gardner at number nine and 10 respectively.
