Gautam Gambhir, the head coach of the Indian cricket team, recently received death threats through email, causing a major security scare. The Delhi Police have now identified the person who sent the emails.
The threats came on April 22, the same day terrorists opened fire on tourists in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, killing 26 people. Gautam Gambhir reportedly received two threatening emails that had the words “I kill you.”
The emails were sent from a suspicious Gmail account, and the sender claimed to be linked to "ISIS Kashmir."

Meanwhile, Gautam Gambhir decided to take a legal route as Delhi Police confirmed they received a complaint about the threat emails and have registered an FIR.
They also mentioned that Gambhir is already under police protection, though they did not reveal specific security details for safety reasons. The authorities have identified the accused. He is a 21-year-old Jigneshsinh Parmar from Gujarat and an engineering student.
After catching him, the police interrogated him in detail. His family claimed that Parmar was suffering from mental health problems. The police are continuing their investigation to understand more about the situation.
That being said, this is not the first time Gambhir has received threats. In 2022, he faced a similar situation, leading to tighter security around him.
Gambhir’s Coaching Staff Revamped
Abhishek Sharma, India’s assistant head coach, was sacked after India’s poor batting performance during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia. However, according to reports, captain Rohit Sharma was not consulted by the BCCI.
Rohit had earlier supported Nayar’s appointment after the 2024 ICC T20 World Cup. The report also claims that while Rohit’s backing was important in bringing Nayar into the coaching setup, he was not informed before the BCCI decided to remove him.
