The cricketing world and many notable figures from various fields have come together to mourn the loss of former Indian cricketer and coach Anshuman Gaekwad, who recently passed away after battling cancer.

Indian cricket was struck by the tragic news of former Indian cricketer and head coach Anshuman Gaekwad's passing on July 31. The veteran lost a prolonged battle with cancer and took his final breath at his home surrounded by family and friends.

Anshuman Gaekwad underwent extensive treatment in London before returning to India just last month. BCCI secretary Jay Shah even released a 1 crore fund to aid the cricketer's medical expenses. However, the 71-year-old eventually lost his life on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, social media platform Twitter has been flooded with condolence messages from influential celebrities across the cricket and political fraternity.

Firstly, Indian Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi expressed his deep sorrow and admiration for Anshuman Gaekwad and noted that his contributions to the world of cricket will never be forgotten.

Indian senior team head coach Gautam Gambhir also paid his respects to Gaekwad by wishing strength to his family.

Ex-cricketers Harbhajan Singh and Irfan Pathan were next to offer condolences. Irfan Pathan and Gaekwad shared common roots as their journey kicked off from Baroda city of Gujarat.

Additionally, Indian Home Minister Amit Shah expressed grief at Gaekwad's passing and acknowledged his contribution to Indian cricket.

That being said, Anshuman Gaekwad's career spanned significant milestones, both as a solid Test batter and later as a coach who led the Indian team through some memorable victories. His grit and determination on the field, combined with his calm and strategic acumen off it, made him a legendary figure in Indian cricket.
