Andre Russell-Powered KKR Win By 1 Run
KKR overcame Rajasthan Royals by a solitary run in match number 53 of the IPL 2025 season at the Eden Gardens. Batting first, the hosts mounted 206-4 from 20 overs, courtesy of Andre Russell’s blistering 25-ball 57* at the death. Rinku Singh also chipped in with a swift six-ball 19*, after Rahmanullah Gurbaz, captain Ajinkya Rahane and Angkrish Raghuvanshi left valiant contributions at the top.
In response, Rajasthan Royals slipped to 71-5 in front of hosts’ spinners Moeen Ali and Varun Chakravarthy before captain Riyan Parag unfurled a blinder. Parag whacked 95 runs from just 45 balls to make a match of their target, before late wickets from Harshit Rana restricted Royals to 205-8.
Riyan Parag Creates History With Six-Fest
Rajasthan Royals skipper Riyan Parag smashed 95 runs from just 45 balls against KKR with six fours and eight sixes. Notably, the blistering middle-order batter launched six of those maximums in six successive deliveries, including five in five off Moeen Ali and the sixth against Varun Chakravarthy the following over. In doing so, Parag became the first cricketer in IPL history to whack six successive sixes, and only the fifth player in IPL to hit five sixes in an over, joining the likes of Chris Gayle, Rinku Singh, Rahul Tewatia and Ravindra Jadeja in an elite list.
Prabhsimran Fuel Punjab Kings Big Win Over LSG
Punjab Kings outclassed LSG in Dharamsala in match 54 of the IPL 2025 season. Being put into bat, Punjab Kings posted 236-5 from 20 overs, with firebrand opening batter Prabhsimran Singh whacking 91 of those runs from just 48 deliveries. Josh Inglis (30 off 14) and Shreyas Iyer (45 off 25) slapped quick runs before Shashank Singh (33* off 15) and Marcus Stoinis (15* off 5) unleashed sparkling cameos at the death. For LSG, Akash Singh unfurled tight figures of 2-30 in the high-scoring innings.
LSG slipped to 73-5 in the run-chase, with Arshdeep Singh taking three wickets with the new ball for the hosts. Azmatullah Omarzai also picked up two wickets before Ayush Badoni’s 40-ball 74 extended LSG to 199-7 from 20 overs, i.e., 37 runs away from Punjab Kings.
Litton Das Named Bangladesh Captain For UAE, PAK Tours
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has named Bangladesh squad for the upcoming T20I tours of UAE and Pakistan. Litton Das has been appointed as captain of the 16-player line-up, which features several other senior pros like Najmul Hossain Shanto, Soumya Sarkar and Mustafizur Rahman. The Bangladesh team will face UAE in a two-match T20I series between May 17 and May 19 later this month, before taking flight for Pakistan for a five-match series between May 25 and June 3.
Nilakshika, Sugandika Help SL Stun India Women
Sri Lanka Women pipped India in a thrilling final over in match number four of the Women’s ODI tri-series in Colombo. India batted first and listed 275-9 from 50 overs. Richa Ghosh top-scored for the ‘Women in Blue’ with 58 from 48 balls, while in-form Pratika Rawal, Harleen Deol, captain Harmanpreet Kaur and Jemimah Rodrigues also scored valiant runs. For Sri Lanka, Sugandika Kumari and Chamari Athapaththu picked up three wickets each in their respective 10-over spells.
Sri Lanka responded strongly with half-centuries from number three Harshitha Samarawickrama (53 off 61) and a 33-ball 56 from Nilakshika Silva. Defying Sneh Rana’s three-fer, the hosts secured a three-wicket win with five balls to spare.
