Litton Das, the right-handed wicketkeeper batter has been appointed as the captain of Bangladesh for the upcoming T20I tours of Pakistan and UAE. They have announced a young 16-member squad which also includes former captain Najmul Hossain Shanto and plenty of other exciting names from Bangladesh cricket.
Bangladesh will play two T20Is against UAE in Sharjah on May 17 and May 19, and will then travel to Pakistan for five-match T20I series, starting from May 25.
Mehdiy Hasan Miraz Excluded From T20I Team
The stylish batter, Litton Das, has not been in great form in international cricket lately, but under his leadership, Bangladesh whitewashed West Indies in December 2024, and thus the selectors have persisted with Das as their captain in the shortest format. There is also an addition of Mahedi Hasan in the leadership group and he has been named as vice-captain of the side.
Interestingly, the star all-rounder, Mehidy Hasan Miraz has not been selected. Along with Mahedi, Rishad Hossain will be a spin option for Bangladesh. The pace attack includes Mustafizur Rahman, Hasan Mahmud, Nahid Rana and Shoriful Islam.
The batting unit consists of powerful top order batters like Soumya Sarkar, Najmul Hossain Shanto, Tanzid Hasan and Parvez Hossain Emon. However, all eyes would be on the performance of Tawhid Hridoy who has emerged as a consistent run-scorer for Bangladesh in recent times.
