The 54th clash between LSG and PBKS at Dharamsala was everything that went wrong for the former. LSG's decision to bowl backfired as they got a beating from PBKS with a total of 236. LSG also failed miserably while coming down to chase.
Punjab Kings waved the dominant flag with a 37-run win and skipper Rishabh Pant saw the team book their third consecutive loss and the sixth defeat for the season. Pant, however, admitted the faults of the team essentially addressing the fielding blunders.
Pant Blasts Fielding Blunders Against PBKS
Rishabh Pant minced no words while speaking at the post-match presentation about the poor fielding and leaking too many runs that cost them the win!
"Too many runs. When you drop crucial catches at the wrong time, it will hurt you badly. We thought it will do more. We didn't pick the lengths right early in the innings. That's a part and parcel of the game," Pant declared.
Notably, Nicholas Pooran dropped a crucial catch of Prabhsimran Singh in the 6th over which gave the Punjab opener a golden opportunity to score his 91 and loom as a threat for LSG.
Pant Banks On Team To Make It 3 In 3
However, Pant remains positive about their team's performance and ability to bounce back as their redemption is still on the cards. "The dream is still alive. If we win the next 3 games, we can turn things around.
Pant nitpicked the faults of the lower-order strength too and wishes to rectify it in their upcoming games.
"It makes sense when your top order is batting well. You can't hope to do the heavy job for us every time. We need to take the game deep at times," Pant said.
With 5 wins from 11 games, LSG now need 3 out of 3 wins to make a run for the playoffs. In another light, the skipper, Pant, himself needs to get his rhythm back as he averages a poor 12.80 in his 10 IPL innings this season. The blue brigade will next face the dominant RCB on May 9 at Ekana in a must-win clash.
