'Come On, Bangladesh' - Mitchell Marsh Hopes For Afghanistan's Loss After India Hunt Down AUS

Australian skipper Mitchell Marsh was disappointed with his team’s effort after Australia lost their last Super Eight game to India at the Darren Sammy National Cricket Stadium, Gros Islet, St Lucia, on June 24.

In a repeat of last year’s ODI final, India outclassed Australia to remain unbeaten in the competition and qualify for the semi-final. It was a clinical performance from the Indian team, as it has been throughout the tournament.

Rohit Sharma’s charismatic knock of 92 and valuable contributions from Suryakumar Yadav,  Shivam Dube, and Hardik Pandya helped India post a total of 205/5. Australia, in reply, were bundled out for 181 despite a brisk 76 from Travis Head, falling short of the target by 24 runs.

After losing back-to-back games, Marsh was not happy with the performance of his players.

“Disappointing. It happens in the game of cricket. In the course of 40 overs, there are a lot of small margins. India were the better team, Rohit is a class player. More belief than hope. In a run chase like that if you keep it at 10 an over, we are in the game. India's bowlers were too good though in the end. Come on, Bangladesh now," said Mitchell Marsh in the post-match presentation.

Australia's hopes of a semi-final spot now depend on Bangladesh. They are still tied with Afghanistan on points and are marginally ahead of them on Net Run Rate. All eyes will be on the result of the match between Afghanistan and Bangladesh, which will be the last Super Eight game of this World Cup.
