Emerging wicket-keeper batter Dhruv Jurel scored twin fifties in India A’s second unofficial Test against Australia A. His two gritty knocks against the odds received positive responses from the fans on the internet as they voted for his inclusion in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

Dhruv Jurel and KL Rahul were last-minute additions to the India A squad for the second unofficial Test against Australia A at MCG. The duo were tasked to get the match ready in just a couple of net sessions. While Rahul’s outing at MCG was horrendous, Jurel emerged as India’s one of the few positives from the 6-wicket loss.

From 11/4 in the first innings, Dhruv Jurel steered India A to 161 with a remarkable 80 off 186 balls. His temperament and composed approach received massive applause from fans back home in India.

Fans hyped after Dhruv Jurel's fightback vs Australia A

Not only that, Jurel once again rescued India A from a brutal collapse, this time with a 68 off 122 balls knock. His 94-run partnership with Nitish Reddy helped India set up a 168-run chase for Australia A.

While India A lost the game by 6 wickets, fans on ‘X’ hyped up Dhruv Jurel for his outstanding resilience and temperament. Many demanded his inclusion in India’s playing XI against Australia in the Border Gavaskar Series. Notably, Dhruv is selected as a backup wicket-keeper for Rishabh Pant, but fans want his inclusion in the final XI as a pure batter as they deem him a better choice compared to KL Rahul and Sarfaraz Khan.

KL Rahul, on the other hand, scored only 14 runs in two innings as an opener, including a bizarre dismissal that triggered a collapse in the second innings. Therefore, in the present circumstance, Dhruv Jurel indeed holds better odds at performing in Australian conditions compared to his teammates.
