In an inside detail shared by PTI, BCCI president Roger Binny and secretary Jay Shah held a 6-hour long review meeting with Indian captain Rohit Sharma, head coach Gautam Gambhir, and chief selector Ajit Agarkar following the 0-3 disastrous series sweep at home against New Zealand.

Team India became a part of embarrassing history as they got swept at home for the first in Test history. New Zealand, coming off a Test loss against Sri Lanka, dominated the men in blue in all departments and conditions.

Meanwhile, India played like rookies, acting newbies in their own backyard. Naturally, the unprecedented loss caught widespread criticism from across the country. Not only that, 3 back-to-back losses put India’s WTC 2025 final qualification in jeopardy.

BCCI seeks an explanation over home Test series defeat against Kiwis

Hence, ahead of the marquee Test series against Australia, BCCI vowed to set the record straight. As per news agency PTI, BCCI held a review meeting, which marked the presence of president Roger Binny, departing secretary Jay Shah, skipper Rohit Sharma, head coach Gautam Gambhir, and head of the selection committee, Ajit Agarkar.

The meeting is believed to have lasted as long as 6 hours as all parties discussed events that led to a fallout and also searched for solutions ahead of the Border-Gavaskar series.

BCCI reportedly expressed dissent with decision to rest Jasprit Bumrah for the third Test and curation of rank turner pitch in Mumbai especially after the team lost Pune Test in similar conditions.

It is still unknown if Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli’s future was discussed in the alleged meet. However, given the circumstances and recent conjecture, the topic might have been on the agenda.

Notably, team India is set to leave for Australia in a few days, for which the squad was released weeks ago. Hence, this review meet seems mostly based on lapses during the New Zealand series.

Rohit Sharma to travel to Australia

Amid rumours of his absence in the Perth Test against Australia, InsideSports mentioned that captain Rohit Sharma is likely to travel with team India to Perth on this weekend. Apparently, Rohit wants to have a couple of days of time to practise in Australian conditions before eventually returning back home for personal reasons. The first Test begins on November 22 at the Optus Stadium in Perth.
