The on-going match of the Women's Big Bash League 2024 between Brisbane Heat and Adelaide Strikers witnessed a bizarre moment that granted Jemimah Rodrigues a lifeline and she eventually went on to slam a brilliant 61 off 40 balls. Rodrigues slammed seven boundaries and one maximum at a strike rate of 152.5.
Her valiant knock almost came to an early end as Tahlia McGrath got the better of her in the 11th over. To throw some light, McGrath bowled a full length delivery on the off-stump, Rodgriues strided forward and picked up across the line. She hit it high in the air and the ball travelled straight to the fielder at the backward square.
The opposition celebrated in excitement, until the umpire requested Jemimah to wait as the front foot was checked. Unfortunately, McGrath overstepped the line and it was a no ball and just like that the Indian stunner got a lifeline.
Megan Schutt Gets Jemmimah
Eventually, Jemi completed her half century and did a brilliant damage to the opposition. This was the first fifty she smashed for her team, Brisbane Heat. However, in the final over of the game, Megan Schutt finally got the better of Jemimah as she dismissed her. She bowled a short and outside off stump delivery, Rodrigues went for a pull however unfortunately found Prendergast at deep square leg.
Brisbane Heat Dominate The Strikers
Brisbane Heat Women posted a formidable total of 175/6 in their 20 overs, setting a challenging target for Adelaide Strikers Women. After being put in to bat, Heat got off to a strong start thanks to Grace Harris, who struck 33 off 22 balls.
Jemi Rodrigues continued the momentum, scoring a well-made 61 off 40 balls, her first half-century for the team. A crucial 54-run partnership with skipper Jess Jonassen helped solidify their total. Jemma Barsby was the standout bowler for the Strikers, taking 2/32.
