AUS vs PAK 3rd ODI: Pakistan to aim for unthinkable series victory

Pakistan received great applause for their inspiring comeback in the 2nd ODI held at Adelaide. Haris Rauf’s sensational spell of five-wicket-haul rattled Aussie’s heavyweight batting lineup as they got bowled out for 163. In response, Saim Ayub and Shafique got a 100+ run partnership to seal a dominant 9-wicket victory.

Naturally, Pakistan’s spirits are higher than ever. Mohammad Rizwan had his first win as white-ball captain, and on Sunday, the men in green will aim for a series victory, which could be a significant moment in their rebuilding journey. To add to their advantage, Australia will field a young and inexperienced side since seniors are off to prepare for the upcoming Test series against India.

AUS vs PAK 3rd ODI: Australia on backfoot in absence of seniors

Australia, meanwhile, were beaten on all corners in the second ODI that turned out to be a one-sided contest. Batters committed costly mistakes that allowed Haris Rauf to dominate. With the ball, Pat Cummins was clueless against Ayub’s assault. That being said, for the third ODI, seniors have left the squad to prepare for the Border Gavaskar series starting from November 22.

Josh Inglis will lead the side as Cummins, Starc, Hazlewood, and Steve Smith have been rested. Lance Morris, Spencer Johnson and Josh Philippe have made the cut to the final squad. Hence, a handful changes are expected as Australia fight to save the series. The Perth Stadium will suit their pacers and winning the toss will become a deciding factor.

AUS vs PAK 3rd ODI: Perth to offer even contest

While Perth’s wicket is one of the fastest in the country, runs generally tend to flow in white-ball format due to shorter boundaries. Temperature will dip as the game progresses, and cooler conditions will assist pacers. Overall, an even contest is expected to play out with pacers playing an important role. Batting second might be a wise choice, especially for Australia.
