Nicholas Pooran Shatters Chris Gayle's All-Time T20 Record With Sublime Knock In CPL 2024

Pooran went past Gayle's long-standing T20 record [x]

The year 2024 certainly belongs to Nicholas Pooran, who is breaking every record in the shortest format of the game. The explosive batter played a scintillating knock of 97 in the recently concluded CPL game and etched his name in the history books.

Pooran smacked 9 sixes in a sublime innings for the Trinbago Knight Riders, and during his heroic knock, the southpaw went past former teammate, Chris Gayle's record of most sixes in a calendar year.

The hard-hitting batter, Pooran has 139 sixes to his name in just 58 T20 matches in 2024, whereas, Gayle has smashed 135 sixes in 36 T20s in 2015.

Most Sixes In A Calendar Year

In 2024, Pooran has played for the West Indies, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the IPL, and has also represented other franchises in different leagues. In IPL 2024, he had smashed 36 sixes, and for the West Indies side, Pooran hammered 34 sixes in just 13 matches.

Pooran storm blows away St Kitts and Nevis Patriots in CPL 2024

In his last match in CPL, Pooran was at his imperial best, scoring 97off just 43 deliveries. He tonked 9 huge sixes, and it was because of his blitz that TKR managed to post 250 on the board.

In reply, St Kitts started on the front-foot, but lost the momentum in the middle-overs as they failed under pressure and were restricted to 206/8. As a result, they lost the match by 44 runs.

Pooran will next be seen in action on September 6, when his team TKR, take on Antigua and Barbuda Falcons.
