A raging Nicholas Pooran activated ‘beast mode’ against St Kitts & Nevis Patriots in the third match of the ongoing CPL 2024 season. Batting at number three for the Trinbago Knight Riders, the explosive wicketkeeper-batter arrived to the crease inside the opening powerplay following the dismissal of pinch-hitter, Sunil Narine.

Pooran subsequently set up a monumental first innings total for the Knight Riders by detonating a flurry of belligerent boundaries and towering sixes against the likes of Anrich Nortje, Dominic Drakes, Odean Smith and Tabraiz Shamsi.

At 51-2, Nicholas Pooran shared 38 runs for the third wicket with Shaqkere Parris and another 100-plus runs with Keacy Carty to blaze the TKR past the 200-run mark.

The explosive wicketkeeper-batter himself slapped a sizzling half-century from just 21 balls, achieving the same by smacking St Kitts & Nevis Patriots’ South African based spinner Tabraiz Shamsi over wide long-on in the 12th over of the innings.

The six that helped Pooran scale his half-century marked the sixth maximum of his innings, and he unleashed a few more of those lusty hits in the backend of the TKR innings to notch up a sensational 43-ball 97. By the time of his dismissal to Nortje, the hard-hitting radical had already blasted seven boundaries and nine sixes during his whirlwind stay at the crease as TKR raced to 211-7 around the first 17 overs of their innings.

Earlier in the match, TKR opener Sunil Narine slapped three boundaries and four sixes in his 19-ball 38-run cameo at the top. Keacy Carty at number five also played his part with Nicholas Pooran through his turbulent cameo in the death overs.

The match, played out at the Warner Park, marks the opening fixture for the Trinbago Knight Riders franchise in the ongoing CPL 2024 season.
