Pakistan's Haris Rauf Ignored; Bangladesh's Rishad Hossain Gets Picked In BBL Draft 2024

Pakistan pace bowler, Haris Rauf has been ignored by the Big Bash League (BBL) teams in the recently concluded draft picks.

Rauf, has been nothing short of a revelation for the Stars, and his own career skyrocketed, after he had a stellar BBL campaign, a couple of seasons ago. The right-arm quick bowler has also been sidelined from the Pakistan squad, 

On the other hand, Bangladesh's spin-bowling sensation, Rishad Hossain was picked by Hobart Hurricanes during the draft pick. He made his international debut last year, and quickly rose to prominence after his stellar performance in the T20 World Cup 2024.

The leg-spinner, was selected in the fourth round of the Big Bash draft in Sydney, and now gets the opportunity to take guidance from the former Aussie captain, Ricky Ponting, who is the Head of Strategy for the Hobart Hurricanes.

However, Rishad's participation in the league depends on the No Objection Certificate (NOC) which the Bangladesh cricket board has to issue, to allow the player to take part in the foreign league.

English players dominate the BBL Draft

Ben Duckett, the maveric English opener was the first pick of the evening for Melbourne Stars. He, among 14 other players were picked in the draft as the English players assert their dominance.

Apart from Duckett, power-packed batter, James Vince was also picked in the draft by Sydney Sixers. The other key English players to play in the BBL this year includes, Tom Curran, Laurie Evans, and Sam Billings, who was pre-signed by Sydney Thunder.

Usama Mir, the sole Pakistan player in BBL

Usama Mir, the lanky leg-spinner is the only Pakistan player selected in the draft, after he was picked in the third round by Melbourne Stars.

The talented spinner played for Stars last year, and will once again represent them in the Big Bash League. Through his performance, he will look to reclaim his place in the national side.
