Nicholas Pooran delivered a spectacular performance for the West Indies in the first T20I against South Africa on August 23, 2024, at the Brian Lara Stadium in Tarouba, Trinidad.

Coming in at No. 3, the left-handed wicketkeeper-batter unleashed a fierce assault on the South African bowlers, and scored an unbeaten 65 runs off just 26 balls.

His explosive innings included two fours and seven towering sixes, which played a crucial role in helping the West Indies chase down a target of 175 runs in just 17.5 overs. The Men in Maroon won the match by seven-wickets and they lead the series 1-0 in the three-match series.

Pooran's remarkable knock also propelled him up the rankings for most sixes in T20Is. He smashed seven sixes during the match, and he elevated his tally to 139 sixes in 96 T20Is.

This moved him up to third place on the all-time list, as he surpassed Glenn Maxwell, Suryakumar Yadav, and Jos Buttler. Only New Zealand's Martin Guptill (173) and India's Rohit Sharma (205) are ahead of him in this category.

Rohit, who recently led India to victory in the 2024 T20 World Cup, holds the record with 205 sixes, making him the only batter to surpass the double-century mark in T20Is.
