New Zealand eclipsed Zimbabwe in the third match of the T20I tri-series 2025 in Harare. The ICC has imposed a fine on Indian Women opener Pratika Rawal as well as on the entire England team for breaching the ICC Code of Conduct. In other news, New Zealand all-rounder Glenn Phillips has been ruled out of his team’s ongoing tri-series and Test tour of Zimbabwe owing to an injury.

Capping an eventful day in the world of cricket, here we take a look at five of the biggest cricketing news that emerged out of Friday, July 18.

Devon Conway, Matt Henry Wallop Zimbabwe In Tri-Series

New Zealand ravaged Zimbabwe by eight wickets in match number three of the T20I tri-series 2025 in Harare. Bowling first, a three-wicket haul from Matt Henry (3-26) and a wicket each from Adam Milne, Mitchell Santner, Michael Bracewell and Rachin Ravindra restricted Zimbabwe to just 120-7 from 20 overs.

In response, New Zealand lost opener Tim Seifert for just three in the second over, but an unbeaten 40-ball 59* from Devon Conway and a 19-ball 30 from Ravindra doused Zimbabwe in just 13.5 overs.

Glenn Phillips Ruled Out Of Tri-Series Due To Injury

New Zealand all-rounder Glenn Phillips has been ruled out of the ongoing T20I Tri-series in Zimbabwe owing to an injury. The 28-year-old suffered a groin injury earlier this month while playing for Washington Freedom in the final of the MLC 2025 season. Phillips will also miss New Zealand’s upcoming two-match Test series against Zimbabwe. While Tim Robinson will serve as a cover for Phillips in the tri-series, New Zealand Cricket (NZC) is yet to name the all-rounder’s replacement for the upcoming Test series.

Pratika Rawal, England Players Fined For Breaching ICC Code Of Conduct

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has punished Indian batter Pratika Rawal and the entire English team for breaching the ICC Code of Conduct in their series-opening first ODI match in Southampton. Pratika was fined 10 percent of her match fees for clashing with England bowlers Sophie Ecclestone and Lauren Filer during her 36-run knock.

Meanwhile, the England Women team was found guilty of breaching article 2.2, which is related to the minimum over-rate offences. The ICC imposed a fine of five percent penalty on the hosts, including captain Nat Sciver-Brunt.

PCA Calls For County, T20 Blast Reduction

The Professional Cricketers' Association (PCA) has called for a reduction in the number of matches in both, the England-based County Championship and T20 Blast tournaments. The PCA urged the County chairpersons to restructure England’s domestic circuit in a bid to “prioritise the welfare” of players ahead of formulating the schedule for the 2026 season. England all-rounder and PCA representative Chris Woakes said that the change was essential to give players a chance of providing their best cricket on the field.

Jordan Cox Blasts 139* Off 60 Balls In T20 Blast

England cricketer and Essex middle-order batter Jordan Cox blasted an unbeaten 139* from just 60 balls against Hampshire in a South Group game of the 2025 T20 Blast season in Chelmsford. Chasing 221 runs for a win, Cox hammered down 11 boundaries and 11 huge sixes in his thunderous knock as Essex soared past the finish line with four wickets and four balls to spare. Remarkably, the next best aggregator of the Essex run-chase turned out to be Michael Pepper for his mere 23-run innings.
