Essex Eagles soared to a massive, successful T20 Blast run chase in spectacular fashion on Thursday night, fueled almost single-handedly by an astonishing, record-breaking innings from wicketkeeper-batter Jordan Cox. His brutal, unbeaten 139 off just 60 balls dismantled Hampshire's imposing total and secured a dramatic four-wicket win with four balls to spare at the County Ground.

Chasing a daunting 221 set by Hampshire, Essex's pursuit seemed precarious early on despite a brisk start. The dismissals of Paul Walter (13) and Michael Pepper (23) left the hosts needing a hero as Jordan Cox arrived on the scene.

Cox Brutally Hammers Hampshire During The Chase

From the moment he arrived at the crease, Cox played with breathtaking audacity and power. He wasted no time, immediately targeting James Fuller, smashing three consecutive fours followed by a six. This set the tone for a relentless assault on the Hampshire bowlers.

Jordan Cox reached his half-century in a mere 22 balls, peppering the boundary with disdain. He particularly punished Benny Howell, launching him for three sixes in the eighth over and repeating the feat with another trio of maximums in a 27-run over later in the innings.

Cox Brings Up Maiden T20 100 In Just 47 Balls!

As wickets fell regularly at the other end, Cox shouldered the immense burden of the chase. He brought up his maiden T20 hundred off just 47 balls, a landmark celebrated with justified emotion.

With 11 needed from the final over bowled by Fuller, Cox, unbeaten on 127, needed just two balls. He emphatically sealed the victory, launching two colossal sixes to finish unbeaten on 139. His innings included a staggering 11 fours and 11 sixes, a display of clean hitting that left the Chelmsford crowd in raptures.
