Ravindra Jadeja scored a fighting 61* against England on Day 5 of the Lord’s Test. Chasing 193 runs for a win; Team India slipped to 71-5 before Jadeja arrived to the crease. The charismatic all-rounder grinded out for 181 deliveries and even batted with the tail to take India closer to the target, before he eventually ran out of partners as England took a 2-1 lead in the five-match series.
Nonetheless, Jadeja’s innings has now earned him high praise from the entire Indian coaching staff, with head coach Gautam Gambhir and assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate both expressing their admirations for the cricketer.
“Jadeja Has Developed His Game…” Says Doeschate
While speaking in a video shared by the BCCI on their social media accounts, Indian head coach Gautam Gambhir can be seen praising Ravindra Jadeja in the dressing room shortly after India’s 22-run defeat at Lord’s. Gambhir said:
“That was an incredible fight. The fight from Jaddu was absolutely brilliant,” remarked while speaking to the BCCI.
Indian assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate also admired the improvement in Ravindra Jadeja’s batting, saying that his consistency has brought a sense of calmness in the dressing room. He said:
“His batting has reached another level. In the last two Tests, the consistency and calmness he brought to the dressing room... I've watched him for so many years, and the way he has developed his game - his defence is rock solid, he looks like a proper batter.”
Ravindra Jadeja has registered four consecutive half-centuries for Team India in the ongoing five-match Test series against England. He, along with the rest of his Indian teammates will now face England in the fourth Test match between July 23 and July 27 at Old Trafford in Manchester.
