There have been massive speculations and rumours over the successor of Jay Shah as BCCI secretary, but with less than a month remaining for Jay Shah to leave the post, there is still no clarity on any particular name. There were recently rumours that Rohan Jaitley will take over the BCCI secretary position, but the senior BCCI official has now confirmed to Times Now that that there no name has been finalised.
Along with Rohan Jaitley, Anil Patel is also in contention, but the final decision is likely to be taken after consulting with all stakeholders. Jay Shah is set to take over ICC chairman role from December 1 and will replace Greg Barclay to take the top position in the apex governing body of cricket in the world.
BCCI's Search For Secretary's Post Continues
Jay Shah would be the youngest independent chairman of ICC at the age of 35 and served as BCCI secretary from October 2019. He also took over the chairman role of Asian Cricket Council in January 2021 and is known for his bold and innovative decisions as BCCI secretary. Jay Shah has been involved in cricket administration for almost 15 years and started as Executive Board Member of Central Board Of Cricket, Ahmedabad. He became joint secretary of Gujarat Cricket Association in 2013 and first joined BCCI in 2015 as member of finance and marketing committees.
Indian cricket fans would now be hoping that the new BCCI secretary continues the good work done by Jay Shah and works cordially with the current president of the board, Roger Binny.
