The 2024 edition of the Women's Big Bash League is now into its 14th game, and it is Perth Scorchers Women up against Brisbane Heat Women in a  crucial encounter. Brisbane Heat have won two matches out of their three games so far while Perth Scorchers have won and lost one. So, a win will help both teams take an upward flight on the points table and the match has so far been an interesting one with both teams exchanging blows.

Nadine de Klerk Draws First Blood

Perth Scorchers are batting first and the experienced pair of Beth Mooney and Sophie Devine opened the innings. The duo built a stand of 40 runs, and they were moving along nicely. However, Nadine de Klerk, the South African pacer delivered a perfect yorker on the last ball off the Powerplay and cleaned up Sophie Devine. The New Zealand star tried her best to get her bat down in time, but the ball was too good, and Brisbane got their first breakthrough.

Interestingly, Nadine de Klerk and Sophie Devine last went against each other in the Women's T20 World Cup final where the White Ferns beat Proteas Women to lift their maiden T20 World Cup title.

After the wicket of Devine, Perth Scorchers Women kept losing wickets at regular intervals and managed to score 142 while batting first. Beth Mooney held one end up and scored a valiant fifty as Nadine de Klerk grabbed two and Nicola Hancock bagged four crucial wickets. Overall, Brisbane Heat are in a good position at the halfway mark, and they would be looking to build on it and grabbed two crucial points.
