On October 31, Punjab Kings released their retention list ahead of the India Premier League (IPL) 2025 mega auction, where they only retained two uncapped players. This was a surprising move as it was expected that the Punjab side would likely retain big players like Arshdeep Singh and Sam Curran. However, they chose to release them.
Arshdeep Singh has been a key member of Punjab Kings since his IPL debut in 2019; he has played 65 matches for Punjab in his career, scalping 76 wickets and showcasing his skills to swing and seam. His stunning performance in Punjab colours made his way to the Indian team.
Despite winning several matches for Punjab Kings and T20 World Cup 2024 in South Africa earlier this year, it shook Arshdeep's head in disbelief as he might have expected to be retained.

In the latest news, the left-arm pacer has unfollowed Punjab Kings' official Instagram account and reportedly, he removed all the posts, reels and highlights of Punjab Kings from his Instagram account.
If reports are to be believed, the Punjab side might not get Arshdeep Singh through Right To Match (RTM) in the IPL 2025 mega auction, set to take place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on November 24 (Sunday) and November 25 (Monday). This will be the second time an IPL auction will be held outside India.
Punjab Kings, after retaining two uncapped players, Prabhsimran Singh (INR 4 crore) and Shashank Singh (INR 5.5 crore), are now on the course of making drastic changes to the line-up as they are now left with the most oversized purse in their kitty.
