On Sunday, September 29, the BCCI president Roger Binny and secretary Jay Shah inaugurated the newly constructed National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru.  It is a historic moment for Indian sports, as the new NCA is a state-of-the-art facility, spread across 40 acres.

Further, the BCCI also revealed that the centre would not be called NCA and will be referred to as the BCCI Centre of Excellence. The new centre is touted to become India's centre for developing cricket talent and promoting sports science.

Facilities At New NCA

The new NCA has three practice cricket fields and eighty-six pitches—both indoor and outdoor. It has advanced practice pitches that can host and stream matches under lights thanks to its cutting-edge broadcasting facilities and advanced floodlighting.

Further, it has a great drainage systmen that allows ground to get dry quickly despite heavy rain.  Talking about the new NCA in Bengaluru, it also has a Olympic-size swimming pool and state-of-the-art training, recovery and sports science facilities.

New NCA Open For Neeraj Chopra And Other Athletes

The recently inaugurated NCA would be open for non-cricketing athletes such as Neeraj Chopra and Manu Bhaker, who made the country proud by winning medals at the recently concluded Paris Olympics 2024.

"We are going to make it available for Olympic sportspersons too like Neeraj Chopra," Shah told TOI.
