Suryakumar Blanks DC, Takes MI To Playoffs
Mumbai Indians trashed Delhi Capitals by 59 runs to seal a spot in the IPL 2025 playoffs. Batting first at the Wankhede Stadium, Suryakumar Yadav’s electric 43-ball 73* and Naman Dhir’s explosive eight-ball 24* took Mumbai Indians to 180-5 from 20 overs. For the Capitals, Kuldeep Yadav unfurled the spell of the innings with figures of 1-22.
In response, three-wicket hauls from Mitchell Santner (3-11) and Jasprit Bumrah (3-12) folded up Delhi Capitals for just 121 in 18.2 overs.
Suryakumar Yadav Joins Temba For Huge T20 Record
Indian captain and Mumbai Indians star batter Suryakumar Yadav equalled Temba Bavuma for a huge T20 record. He shaped a 36-ball half-century against Delhi Capitals before ending with 73* off 43 balls with seven boundaries and four huge sixes in match 63 of the IPL 2025 season in Mumbai. In doing so, Suryakumar listed his 13th score of 25 or more runs in T20 cricket, joining South African veteran Bavuma in the process. The Proteas legend attained the feat back between 2019 and 2020.
Bangladesh’s Nahid Rana Pulls Out Of PAK Tour
Bangladesh fast bowler Nahid Rana has pulled out of his team’s upcoming three-match T20I tour of Pakistan. The speedster is currently in the UAE along with the rest of his Bangladeshi colleagues for a series against the hosts. As per BCB cricket operations chairman Nazmul Abedeen Fahim, Rana might have pulled out of Pakistan tour owing to the difficult phase he and several other overseas stars went through in the country during PSL 2025 earlier this month.
The situation in contention highlights the time when overseas players were trying to get out of Pakistan during the height of their cross-border tensions with India.
ICC Claim 2025 Champions Trophy Set Viewership Records
The International Cricket Council (ICC) has confirmed that the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy in Pakistan and in the UAE earlier this year set unprecedented viewership records. As per ICC’s findings, the tournament fetched 368 billion viewing minutes, making it the highest-viewed Champions Trophy event ever. Moreover, the final match played between India and New Zealand received 65.3 billion global live viewing minutes, a staggering 52 percent increment from the 2017 final between India and Pakistan. ICC Chairman Jay Shah also acknowledged these numbers, describing them as a marker for the game’s growth.
