The 2025 ICC Champions Trophy in Pakistan and in the UAE has set some unprecedented viewership records. As per the latest findings from the International Cricket Council (ICC), the tournament garnered 368 billion global viewing minutes, marking a staggering 19 percent increase from the previous edition back in 2017 in England.
Team India, under the leadership of Rohit Sharma, won the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy by defeating New Zealand in the final at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
Champions Trophy 2025 sets viewership records
The 2025 ICC Champions Trophy received 368 billion viewing minutes, making it the highest-viewed Champions Trophy event ever. Moreover, the tournament also fetched 65.3 billion global live viewing minutes for the final, a staggering 52 percent increase from the 2017 final match between India and Pakistan in England.
ICC Chairman Jay Shah described the viewership success of the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy as a marker for the game’s growth. Taking to X, he wrote:
“These remarkable numbers reflect the growing global appeal of the game and the strength of our partnerships.”
Team India won the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy to bag their third silverware after the 2002 joint-edition and the 2013 event in England. Under the leadership of Rohit Sharma, the ‘Men in Blue’ topped the Group A points table by defeating New Zealand, Bangladesh and Pakistan in successive games.
In the semifinal and the final, India overcame Australia and New Zealand, both in Dubai, in some tense run-chases. The outcome marked India’s second ICC trophy in successive years after lifting the 2024 T20 World Cup in the West Indies back in June 2024, and the first Champions Trophy title since 2013.
