Mumbai Indians fans paid a stirring tribute to Indian Armed Forces in light of India’s recent cross-border turmoil with geo-political rivals Pakistan. Fans at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai raised a flag honouring the Indian Army during Mumbai Indians’ penultimate league fixture of the IPL 225 season against Delhi Capitals on Wednesday, May 21.

The fans also chanted ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’ in unison, and the moment of patriotism was even captured and shared by the Mumbai Indians franchise on their social media platforms.

On Wednesday, May 21, several Mumbai Indians fans at the Wankhede Stadium raised an Indian flag along with silhouette imagery of Indian Army personnel. The entire crowd also chanted ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’ in unison during the initial moments of the match.

As far as cricketing action is concerned, Delhi Capitals won the toss and invited Mumbai Indians to bat first. In response, Mumbai Indians lost both openers, Ryan Rickelton and Rohit Sharma early in the innings to Kuldeep Yadav and Mustafizur Rahman respectively.

Will Jacks at number three also failed to go beyond 21 runs as he was dismissed by Capitals fast bowler Mukesh Kumar.

The match marks a must-win one for both sides in their late bid of securing a place in the IPL 2025 playoffs. A defeat for Mumbai Indians means that the Hardik Pandya-led franchise will have to hope for the Capitals to lose against Punjab Kings in their final league fixture. Moreover, a defeat will also make Mumbai’s last game against PBKS a must-win one by any costs.
