Shubman Gill has led the Gujarat Titans to the top of the IPL 2025 points table by securing nine wins from 12 matches. Becoming the first side of the season to qualify for the playoffs, the franchise is now eyeing to strengthen its top-two slot against a struggling LSG unit.

With Titans players prepping themselves up for the match, captain Gill found time to grind out for some sterner Tests, one that await him in England next month following the conclusion of IPL 2025.

During a recent training session, Gujarat Titans captain and charismatic opening batter Shubman Gill was spotted practicing with the red ball. One can assume that the cricketer wants to make full use of his IPL training time to prepare for India’s upcoming five-match Test series against England next month.

Notably, Gill is also reportedly being considered for Test captaincy of the Indian team for the tour, considering regular skipper Rohit Sharma confirmed his retirement from the format earlier this month.

With Gill poised to tour England next month, his recent Test form remains an area of concern for the Indian team. Earlier this year, the cricketer managed to tally just 93 runs in five innings spanning three Tests in Australia during the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy series, doing so with a dismal batting average of 18.60.

The Indian cricket team will face England in a five-match series, with the first Test set to be played at Headingley in Leeds between June 20 and June 24. The series will also launch India’s 2025-27 WTC cycle.

Shubman Gill, meanwhile, will next be seen leading Gujarat Titans in their penultimate league fixture of the IPL 2025 season against LSG. The match will be hosted by the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Thursday, May 22.
