Fast bowler Mohamed Shiraz has been added to the Sri Lanka squad for the upcoming ODI series against India as an injury cover for Matheesha Pathirana. The ODI series between Sri Lanka and India is scheduled to launch on August 2 at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.

Yet to make his international debut, Shiraz is currently playing the Major Clubs Limited Over Tournament for the Burgher Recreation Club. In one of his recent outings, the speedster picked up career-best List A figures of 6-21 by dismantling the Kurunegala Youth Cricket Club.

Mohamed Shiraz has so far featured in 47 List A games, picking up an impressive haul of 80 wickets at a bowling average of 17.52. The 29-year-old has played 49 additional first-class matches and 23 T20 fixtures around Sri Lanka’s domestic arena.

On July 30, the Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) added Mohamed Shiraz to the national squad for the upcoming ODI series against India as an injury cover for Matheesha Pathirana. Pathirana himself recently emerged as the leading wicket-taker for Sri Lanka in their T20I series loss to India in Pallekele.

The first ODI of a three-match series between Sri Lanka and India will take place at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Friday, August 2. The iconic Sri Lankan venue will also host the subsequent two ODIs of the series on August 4 and August 7.

The hosts lost the T20I series by a 0-3 margin to world champions India at the Pallekele International Stadium earlier this week.
