Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) owner Kavya Maran was been spotted in Mumbai on July 31, i.e., ahead of a crucial meeting between the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and IPL franchises. The meeting in contention will take place to discuss several player-retention policies for the 2025 edition of the IPL.

The Kavya Maran-owned SRH group made it to the finals of the IPL 2024 season back in May this year, where they lost to third-time winners KKR.

Kavya Maran lands in Mumbai for IPL meeting

On Wednesday, July 31, Kavya Maran was spotted arriving at the Mumbai airport. Her arrival coincided with the approaching date for a high-profile meeting between the BCCI officials and IPL franchises.

The IPL franchises are set to meet with the BCCI officials to discuss several policies regarding protentional changes to player retentions rules. As per reports, the BCCI might allow IPL franchises to retain several uncapped players under a separate slot ahead of the mega auction of next year’s IPL 2025 season.

The previous policy allowed franchises to retain no more than four cricketers, including three Indians and one overseas star. Moreover, the retention of the uncapped players was also restricted to just two under the employment of the preceding rule.

For IPL 2025, several IPL franchises might persuade the BCCI to consider separate retention slots for uncapped cricketers. If they are successful in persuading the apex body to do the same, the franchises will be able to retain two uncapped players from their previous squad under a separate slot.
