Delhi Capitals Co-Owner Expresses His Disregard For IPL Impact Player Rule At BCCI Meet

Delhi Capitals co-owner Parth Jindal has expressed his disregard for the Impact Player Rule in IPL. The aforementioned rule first came to the fore in IPL back in 2023. Under the ‘Impact Player’ rule, competing teams can substitute in a player at any point of the match from their four named substitutes.

Parth Jindal believes that while the rule provides fresh opportunities to youngsters, he claimed that it is detrimental for Indian cricket as it significantly reduces the role of all-rounders.

Delhi Capitals co-owner not in favor of Impact Player

Owners of IPL franchises gathered at the BCCI headquarters in Mumbai on July 31 for a meeting regarding several player retention policies and mega auction updates for next year’s IPL 2025 season. At the meeting, Delhi Capitals co-owner Parth Jindal expressed his dislike for the 2023-introduced ‘Impact Player’ rule in IPL matches.

As per reports, Jindal is against the concept of the aforementioned rule because he believes it to detrimental for the growth of Indian cricket. According to him, the ‘Impact Player’ rule reduces the significance of all-rounders and hinders their growth. However, the Delhi Capitals co-owner did admit that the rule offers fresh opportunities to a lot of young players awaiting a chance at the high-octane arena of IPL.

Meanwhile, the meeting between BCCI officials and IPL franchises was organized in Mumbai to discuss several policies involving the player retention rule for IPL 2025. While some franchises are favoring the idea of an increment in player retentions, several others have expressed their displeasure.

Moreover, KKR owner Shahrukh Khan and Punjab Kings owner Ness Wadia even had a verbal spat with each other over differential opinions regarding the mega auction.
