United States of America (USA) did the unthinkable by clinching a super over win against the runners-up of the previous edition, Pakistan, and have won their opening two games of the tournament. They also became the first Associate nation to beat Pakistan in a T20 World Cup.

What transpired in the PAK-USA Game?

Playing on their home turf, USA restricted Pakistan's formidable batting lineup to 159/7 in 20 overs, with Babar Azam and Shadab Khan each scoring 40 plus.

In response, the USA were in control for most of their innings before Pakistan staged a late comeback. Skipper Monank Patel, who was given a reprieve, scored a crucial 50 off 38 balls, bringing his team close to victory. Aaron Jones, the hero of the USA's tournament opener, finished the innings with an unbeaten 36 off 26 balls. Nitish Kumar tied the match with a boundary on the final ball, needing 5 runs to win.

In the super over, Mohammad Amir bowled for Pakistan, but a series of wides and sloppy fielding allowed the USA to score 18 runs in 6 balls, despite hitting just one boundary. Saurabh Netravalkar was given the task of defending the score. 

He started with a dot ball, conceded a boundary, bowled a wide, and then dismissed Iftikhar on the third ball with a remarkable catch by substitute Milind Kumar. The target of 14 runs from 3 balls soon became 7 from the last ball. A disciplined effort from Netravalkar secured a historic win for the USA over Pakistan, placing them at the top of Group A.
