In a significant development, former Chennai Super Kings (CSK) cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin has rejoined India Cements, paving the way for a potential return to his old franchise CSK in the IPL, possibly during the 2025 mega-auction.

As part of his new role, the off-spinner will oversee the CSK High Performance Centre, despite his current affiliation with the Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the IPL.

Will Ashwin leave RR? Here's the report

This decision has sparked excitement among fans, leading to speculation that the Tamil Nadu native might return to the CSK squad with the mega auction slated for the end of this year.

The upcoming player auction will be crucial for the next three seasons and since Ashwin is still under contract with the Royals, a direct trade with CSK is not possible. Therefore, if CSK fails to acquire the veteran in the auction, a post-auction trade would be the only feasible option.

"Growing the game and contributing to the cricketing fraternity is my primary focus," Ravi Ashwin said regarding his new role.

Ashwin was an integral part of the MS Dhoni led CSK team from his debut season in 2008 until 2015, before the franchise was banned from the competition for two years, along with the Rajasthan Royals. Following the ban, Ashwin played for Rising Pune Supergiants, then captained the Punjab Kings (formerly Kings XI Punjab) in the 2018 season.

He later joined Delhi Capitals for two successful seasons before signing a three-year deal with the Royals.
