According to recent reports, Imran Khan, Pakistan's former Prime Minister and ex-captain of the national team, has been arrested in connection with the GHQ Attack case. This arrest is linked to the violent protests that ensued on May 9th following his apprehension.

On Tuesday, the Anti-Terrorism Court of Pakistan called upon the founder of the PTI to investigate the events of May 9th, 2023. The PTI founder, who was already in custody due to the cipher and grafts case, participated in the inquiry online as he couldn't attend in person. Despite the existence of the recording, Adiala jail authorities opted not to run the video link due to security concerns.

During the hearing of the cases, officials from RA Bazar Police Station requested the physical remand of the PTI founder in the May 9 cases. However, ATC Judge Malik Aijaz Asif rejected the request and instructed the police to conduct the interrogation of the PTI founder at Adiala prison.

Imran Khan GHQ Court Case: How did it pan out?

The latest development in the case follows the May 9th incident, during which PTI senior leader Shah Masood Qureshi was arrested on the Supreme Court of Pakistan's order. He was swiftly granted bail in the Cipher Case. However, a local court in Rawalpindi subsequently remanded Shah Masood Qureshi to Adiala jail for 14 days in connection with a case related to a bomb blast on December 28, 2023, at GHQ Court.

Following the initial arrest, Pakistani police discovered Shah Masood Qureshi's involvement in multiple other incidents. As a result, a total of nine additional cases have been registered against him.

On the other hand, Imran Khan was arrested but was given the bail in the case. Despite having a release order, Imran remains in custody due to his arrest in connection with the Toshakhana and the 190 million pound Al-Qadir Trust scandal.
