Local Cricketer, 34, Dies On Pitch After Heart Attack In Noida

Cricketer Vikas Negi collapsed during a match between Mavericks XI and Blazing Bulls in Noida. The 34-year-old was pronounced dead a while later after he was rushed to a nearby hospital in Uttar Pradesh via car.


Cricketer in Noida, India dies due to heart attack

While playing for Mavericks XIs during a S&B India Annual Cricket Tournament match against Blazing Bulls in Noida, 34-year-old Vikas Negi collapsed in the middle of the pitch owing to a heart attack.

Batting at 7* at the time, Negi at the non-striker’s end was seen walking up to congratulate his partner Umesh Kumar for hitting a boundary. However, moments after bumping fists with Kumar, Negi suddenly fell to the ground, which prompted players from both camps to rush to his aid on the pitch.

Some of the players even attempted CPR to revive Negi but to no avail.


Cricketer in Noida collapses on pitch

The 34-year-old was subsequently rushed to a nearby hospital in Uttar Pradesh, where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.

Mavericks XI had reached 143-5 in 13.5 overs at the time of Vikas Negi’s unfortunate demise.

They eventually set a target of 184 for the Blazing Bulls off 20 overs before the match was abandoned.

Back in November 2023, software engineer and Indian cricket fan Jyotish Kumar Yadav also suffered a heart attack owing to India’s defeat at the 2023 World Cup to Australia.
