Mohammed Shami’s brother, Mohammed Kaif made his Ranji Trophy debut for Bengal against Andhra Pradesh on Friday. The Indian fast bowler congratulated his brother on social media for achieving a big milestone in his cricketing career. He took to his social media handle to share a picture with his brother and wrote heartfelt note along with it.

In his congratulatory note, Shami wrote: "Finally after a long struggle, you got Ranji trophy cap for Bengal . Cheers!! Great Achievement!! Congratulations, I wish you a great future ahead! Give your 100% and Keep continuing hard work & do well (sic)."

Kaif came as a night watchman for Bengal on Day 1 of the Test match against Andhra Pradesh. The 27-year old Kaif made his List A debut for Bengal against Jammu and Kashmir in Kolkata on 27th February 2021.

Shami has been a guiding force in his brother’s career so far. His crucial advices have helped Kaif excel in his career and on Friday, he also made his first-class debut. Both of them trained together during Covid-19 lockdown period in 2020 in their home village of Sahaspur.

Kaif went under the hammer at IPL 2024 auction but, unfortunately, couldn't find any takers. Kaif has good numbers in domestic cricket and will only get better from here. The 27-year-old has 12 wickets to his name in 9 List-A matches.

Shami to make his comeback in Tests vs ENG

Mohammad Shami, on the other hand, is currently recovering from an injury and also missed out the South African tour because of the same. M Shami emerged as the star performer with the ball for India in the 2023 World Cup.

He warmed the bench in the first few games but wreaked havoc with the ball after making his comeback. The Indian pacers claimed as many as 3 five-wicket hauls in the tournament and went on to pick the most wickets in the World Cup 2023.

Shami is likely to make his comeback on the field for India in the forthcoming Test series against England at home, before donning Gujarat Titans' jersey in the Indian Premier League 2024 (IPL 2024).
