'Pakistan Nowhere Close To India': Salman Butt After Shan Masood & Co's Resilience In SCG Test

Former Pakistan cricketer, Salman Butt reckons that India is a far better Test side than Pakistan. Rohit Sharma and Co. are currently playing a Test series in South Africa, while Pakistan, on the other hand, are playing a three-match Test series against Australia.

Both sides haven’t won a match yet in their respective series, however, Salman Butt said that it isn’t fair to compare Pakistan with India in Tests. Butt said that India might not have won a Test series in South Africa but they have an outstanding record at home. But, on the other hand, Pakistan fail to dominate even at home.

"India have always struggled in South Africa. They have won in Australia but have not looked very comfortable in South Africa. However, you still cannot compare Pakistan to India. They at least win all of their home Tests; we tend to lose even at home,” Butt said.

"The comparison isn't there. Pakistan have never won a series in Australia, whereas they have won two over there. India have played good cricket in England as well," Pakistan cricketer added.

Pakistan team are currently trailing 0-2 in the two-match Test series in Australia. On day 1 of the third Test, Shan Masood and Co. managed to score 313 runs in the first innings, thanks to stupendous knocks from Rizwan (88 off 103) and Aamer Jamal (82 off 97).

The team are playing under a new skipper in Shan Masood. He was appointed as the captain of the Test side on 15th November. Salman Khan, earlier, stated that PCB did the right thing by appointing Masood as the Test captain.

He reckoned that Rizwan would have been a good option but Masood too has a great record at the domestic level.

"I think Mohammad Rizwan would also have been a good option, but Shan Masood is equally good. If you look at his captaincy record in domestic cricket, he has done pretty well. Pakistan are looking for a long-term thing, which is why they went with a youngster."

Masood’s stint as the captain hasn’t started well but Pakistan would be hoping to finish the Australia tour with a win in the final Test.
