In a significant development, there are reports that the defending champions, KKR have initiated the dialogue with Shreyas Iyer regarding the retention ahead of the deadline day.
Notably, October 31 is the last date for all ten franchises to submit their retention list for IPL 2025. Ahead of the crucial day, KKR have started the talks with Iyer, who has been reported to be released by the defending champions. There are also rumours that KKR are not planning for Iyer to be their top retention.
KKR Initiate Talks With Shreyas Iyer
While the details of the conversation between KKR and Shreyas Iyer are not out, but according to Times of India, there is some form of dialogue between the two and the three-times winners would have conveyed their stance to the right-hand batter.
Notably, Iyer had a brilliant 2024 season, where he amassed 351 runs at an average of 39 and a strike rate of 146.86. According to the Times of India, there was no official communication between Iyer and KKR before Sunday and everything floating on the internet were just rumours.
KKR Likely To Release Andre Russell
Not just Iyer, but other shocking reports have mentioned that KKR are also planning to release Andre Russell, who have been with the club for a long time. Notably, Revsports reported that KKR are exploring other options as Russell is 36-years-old and the defending champions are not willing to spend a heavy amount on the Caribbean.
The reports so far have hinted that KKR are looking at Rinku Singh, Sunil Narine, Phil Salt as their retentions and Harshit Rana as uncapped star.
