Former Indian cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar has criticised head coach Gautam Gambhir for his casual statements in the recently held press conferences. Gambhir, who currently serves as India's head coach, attended the pre-departure presser before leaving with the Indian team for the upcoming five-match Test series in Australia.

In the press conference, Gambhir launched a scathing attack on Australian great Ricky Ponting for his recent remarks on the talismanic batting duo of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. Apart from that, the former opener also revealed Rohit Sharma's potential captaincy and opening replacements in case the Indian captain misses the first Test in Perth.

Manjrekar Criticises Gambhir's Attitude In Press Conferences

Manjrekar took to his social media handle on X (formerly Twitter), slamming Gautam Gambhir's attitude while dealing with the media. The ex-player was unimpressed with some of his statements, asking the BCCI to send Ajit Agarkar and Rohit Sharma to the press conferences.

"Just watched Gambhir in the press conference. May be wise for @BCCI to keep him away from such duties, let him work behind the scenes. He does not have the right demeanour nor the words when interacting with them. Rohit & Agarkar, much better guys to front up for the media," Manjrekar tweeted.

Gambhir Gives Update On Rohit Sharma

India's head coach Gautam Gambhir gave a massive update on skipper Rohit Sharma's availability for the first Test in Perth. The ex-opener reckoned that the stylish right-hander hasn't been ruled out yet, as he might still land in Australia before the opening encounter.
