India's stance is clear on the upcoming Champions Trophy - they won't travel to their neighbouring country for the mega event. As the tournament nears by, the picture has gotten clear and BCCI have already informed the ICC about their decision.
However, as BCCI's decision was out, experts in Pakistan are annoyed with India and many of them have called it a 'joke of a stance' by the Indian side. The decision has not gone well with the former Pakistan cricketer, Javed Miandad, who lashed out at BCCI and wants PCB to boycott all future matches with India.
"It is a joke that this is happening. Even if we don't play India at all, Pakistan cricket will not only survive but prosper as well as we have shown in the past. I would like to see how the ICC events earn money when there are no Pakistan and India matches," Miandad was quoted as saying by PTI.
BCCI want the Champions Trophy to be held in hybrid model, similar to the Asia Cup 2023 event. However, PCB Chief, Mohsin Naqvi is firm on his stance that the entire event will be played in Pakistan.
India have not travelled to Pakistan since 2008
The last time India toured Pakistan was way back in 2008, when the Asia Cup took place. In that event, India reached the finals, but lost against Sri Lanka.
The 2009 terrorist attack on the Sri Lankan team was the final nail in the coffin as after that, matches stopped taking place in Pakistan and the team had to play its home matches in UAE. However, once cricket resumed in Pakistan, top international sides have travelled their, barring India.
Due to the political differences, the government of India is adamant and will not allow the team to travel to Pakistan.
