In a massive setback for Bangladesh, skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto has been ruled out of the all-important third One-Day International against Bangladesh. After securing a comprehensive 68-run victory in the second ODI, the Tigers will take on a spirited Afghan side in the decider of the three-match series in Sharjah. 

However, ahead of the final encounter, the visitors have suffered a massive setback, with Najmul Hossain Shanto suffering a groin injury. As The Daily Star reported, Shanto won't play the final ODI due to the unfortunate injury. In his absence, Mehidy Hasan Miraz will likely lead the visiting side. 

Zakir Hasan Likely To Replace Shanto At The Top Order

Shanto's absence will be a golden opportunity for talented left-handed batter Zakir Hasan, who will likely replace him at the top order. The stylish southpaw has represented Bangladesh in twelve Tests, four T20Is and a solitary ODI, amassing 590 international runs across 29 innings. So, he might be slotted at number three, with Tanzid Hasan Tamim and Soumya Sarkar opening the innings for Bangladesh.  

The rest of the Bangladesh lineup will likely remain the same, as the Tigers could persist with their winning combination from the previous ODI. Mehidy Hasan Miraz will continue to bat at number four besides bringing his spin-bowling expertise to the table. 

Apart from the experienced all-rounder, Bangladesh will rely on Jaker Ali, who showcased exemplary form in the last game. However, the eyes will also be on Towhid Hridoy and Mahmudullah, as the visitors would expect better returns from them in this must-win clash.
