The Border-Gavaskar Trophy is just around the corner as Team India embark on a tricky tour, Down Under. After an embarrassing loss against the Kiwis, the tour of Australia is of utmost importance, considering India's situation in the points table.
The Indian team have to win the series against Australia by a margin of 4-0, and anything less than that, and the visitors will then have to depend on the other results for their WTC finale fate. India are under tremendous pressure, but there are 3 key players who can decide India's outcome in the series with their performances.
3) Jasprit Bumrah
India's leader in the bowling attack, Jasprit Bumrah will hold the key in the bowling department. With Mohammad Shami not around, and Mohammed Siraj out of form, Bumrah will have the added burden of carrying the attack.
However, the speedster relishes playing Australia, and has a brilliant record against them. In 7 Tests against them, he has picked up 32 wickets, at an average of 21.25. If Bumrah gets the early inroads in the Test series, India will have a chance of winning the series.
2) Virat Kohli
The face of Indian cricket, and arguably India's best batter on bouncy pitches of Australia, Virat Kohli will be the key player in the batting department. The Australian team always brings the best out of him, and the former Test skipper has already scored 6 Test centuries in Australia.
He is going through a rough patch, and failed to deliver in the New Zealand series, but the upcoming series will provide a great chance for the 'King' to get back amongst the runs and take India to a series win.
1) Rishabh Pant
The man, the myth, the legend, Rishabh Pant has even better numbers against Australia than Virat Kohli. The maverick batter scored a brilliant ton in Sydney in 2018, and was also a vital cog of the Indian team which won the series, Down Under.
His iconic 89* at the Gabba was etched in the history books and with the Indian batting struggling in recent times, Pant will be a huge factor in the middle-order. He has 624 runs in 7 matches, at an average of 62.40.
