In a significant development, legendary batter Virat Kohli has landed in Perth for the first Test of the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy Against Australia. Under Rohit Sharma's leadership, India will cross swords against the Aussies in a five-match series commencing on the 22nd of this month. The first Test will be played at Perth Stadium before the caravan shifts to Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney for the final four fixtures.

Meanwhile, talismanic Indian batter Virat Kohli has become the first Indian cricketer to land on the Aussie soil for the high-profile series. Notably, Kohli departed for Australia earlier than his teammates, who will join him after flying in two separate batches. 

"Virat Kohli left before the two batches and has already reached Perth. One batch of players is already on their way and the second batch leaves today," a source was quoted as saying by TOI. 

Kohli has a stellar Test record in Australia, amassing 1352 runs in 25 innings at an outstanding average of 54.02. Therefore, considering his heroics in the past, the visitors will hope for a series-defining performance from the batting maestro. 

Rohit Sharma To Join Later As Indian Team Leaves For Australia In 2 Batches

The Indian players will travel to Australia in two separate groups. Shubman Gill, Mohammed Siraj, Akash Deep, Washington Sundar and Yashasvi Jaiswal were the key players who left in the first batch on Sunday. The rest of the squad and support staff, including head coach Gautam Gambhir, will travel to Down Under today. As confirmed by Gambhir, skipper Rohit Sharma hasn't travelled with the team and might land in Australia later, with uncertainty looming over his participation in the opening Test at Perth Stadium.
