KL Rahul is a man who can do multiple roles at the same time and is someone who won't even complain about it. He can be touted as 'Jack of all trades, but master in none.' Even after an international career spanning 10-years, the Karnataka batter doesn't have a clear role in the team.

When KL Rahul started his international career, his role was to open the batting for the Indian side across formats. However, as years passed on, he became a middle-order batter in ODIs and Tests. Moreover, he was also given the added responsibility of keeping the wickets, which hampered his game.

Is the Gambhir-Rohit duo ruining KL Rahul's career?

The new regime of captain, Rohit Sharma and coach Gautam Gambhir are also doing the same thing with KL Rahul by not providing him a clear cut role. The hypocrisy is there in the statements which the two greats have given time and again.

After the 46-all out Vs New Zealand in the first Test, Rohit Sharma attended the press conference and talked about KL Rahul's role. He stated that they don't want to touch on KL's role and should be given a longer rope at number 6, so that the batter gets a clear cut thought.

"We don't want to touch KL's batting position much. He has found a place at 6, so let's give him a rope there. Same with Sarfaraz, we wanted to give him a similar position to where he bats because he is new to international cricket as well. So Virat was the one who wanted to take responsibility.

Now, ahead of the Australia tour, Gambhir attended the pre departure conference and had different ideologies regarding KL's batting position.

"KL Rahul can open, he can bat at No.3, he can also bat at No.6. That's a good thing, not many players can offer such options."

There is clear difference in opinion between the captain and the coach. One wants KL Rahul to bat at 6 and get used to the position, while the other wants KL to be a bit more flexible.
