In an interesting turn of events, London Spirit signed Lancashire opener Keaton Jennings as replacement for injured Zak Crawley for the remainder of The Hundred 2024 edition.

London Spirit’s campaign at the 2024 The Hundred Men’s tournament began on an underwhelming note as they lost both their early matchups. The Spirit are seated sixth on the points table with zero points.

That being said, London Spirit undoubtedly missed the services of regular players who were busy with national duty, especially opener Zak Crawley.

Meanwhile, in a huge setback, Zak Crawley picked up an injury on their index finger while attempting a catch during the Edgbaston Test against the West Indies. He was immediately sent for scans and was later ruled out for the final Test.

And as per rumours, Crawley’s injury is serious and he is doubtful for the Sri Lanka Test series scheduled for August 21. Hence, Crawley pulled out of The Hundred 2024 edition to focus on quicker recovery.

Meanwhile, to fill Zak Crawley’s void, London Spirits summoned Keaton Jennings from Lancashire. Jennings will replace Zak for the remainder of The Hundred season. Notably, Jennings has played extensively in county cricket and is currently serving Lancashire in the Royal One-Day Cup.

Having said that, while Jennings is primarily known for his prowess in longer formats, he has also demonstrated his capability in the T20 format. Jennings’ calm demeanour and strategic approach can anchor the innings, which is crucial in the 100-ball format where maintaining momentum is key.

London Spirit will face Welsh Fire next on August 1 at the Lord’s cricket ground and the high-voltage clash will commence from 7.30 PM IST onwards.
