Pakistan's red-ball coach Jason Gillespie recently reflected on the Pakistan Shaheens' disappointing series loss to Bangladesh A in Darwin, Australia, emphasising the team's failure to execute their plans in both departments as a key reason for their defeat.

Pakistan Shaheens mentored by red ball Jason Gillespie travelled to Darwin, Australia to feature in a two four-day matches series against Bangladesh A.

While PAK won the opening game, they lost by a minimal margin of five runs in the second game, thus levelling the series 1-1.

Meanwhile, Jason Gillespie shared insights on his first official assignment as Pakistan's red ball coach. He praised the youngsters for showing intent and grit against challenging foreign conditions. Jason added that the series was indeed a learning curve, and players definitely benefited from the opportunity.

"It has been a wonderful experience for all the Shaheens players. We certainly learned a lot. It was a great opportunity for me to get to know the guys, see how they approach training, preparation, teamwork, and their work on the field. It’s been a real learning curve for me. I think the players have certainly benefited from this opportunity," Jason said.

That being said, Jason Gillespie was equally critical of Pakistan Shaheen's shortcomings. He called out the top order for not converting strong starts in both the games. On the other hand, bowers failed to execute set plans, Jason opined.

"While there are plenty of lessons to learn from this game, our top seven batters did not quite deliver as expected. In both innings, four of our top seven got starts, but none managed to go on and achieve a really big score. We didn't execute our plans as effectively as we could have in this game."

Regardless, Pakistan Shaheens have an intense schedule coming up. They will participate in two ODI matches and the nine-team Top End T20 series in Darwin, Australia.

Jason Gillespie, meanwhile, will be flying back to Pakistan to mentor the senior team in the upcoming Tests series against Bangladesh.
