In a candid chat for a Star Sports show, popular sports anchor Jatin Sapru discussed Hardik Pandya's IPL woes and his sweet redemption story at the T20 World Cup.

The past 6 months were life-changing for Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya as he went from a hated figure to a hero for the Indian cricket fans. It all started with Mumbai Indians replacing Rohit Sharma to appoint Pandya as the franchise captain.

The fans were divided by the move, and Hardik Pandya had to bear the brunt of the fans at almost every stadium he stepped foot into during the IPL. 

However, the all-rounder kept his calm and redeemed himself during the 2024 T20 World Cup final. Hardik defended 16 runs off the final over to help India lift an ICC trophy after a decade-long wait.

Meanwhile, mainstream sports anchor Jatin Sapru recently discussed Hardik Pandya's redemption story with Rohan Deshmukh and opined that fans' hostility towards the all-rounder was harsh and unjustified.

While he sympathised with the fans' resentment over MI's decision, booing Pandya wasn't the right thing to do and Sapru added that people almost forgot during that phase that Hardik was after all India's premier all-rounder.

Not only that, Sapru added that Hardik Pandya's emotions during the T20 World Cup victory interview were raw and honest. He had been holding up the frustration gracefully and channelled it in the right direction to become an overnight hero for Indian fans.

That being said, Hardik Pandya was also dealing with a personal crisis during this entire challenging period as he separated from his wife, Natasa Stankovic. Regardless, not once did the all-rounder break under pressure.
