In a significant development, former India batter Suresh Raina is set to become CSK's batting coach for IPL 2026. During the ongoing IPL 2025 match between CSK and GT at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Raina, who was a part of the commentary team, confirmed that he would be joining MS Dhoni next year to groom the young players by serving as the five-time winner's batting coach.

It is worth noting that during the commentary stint, Aakash Chopra confirmed that Raina will be joining the five-time winners as the batting coach. Raina, who is fondly known as Mr. IPL, featured for the five-time winners from 2008 to 2021. Further, to this date, the southpaw is still the side's leading run-getter with 5529 runs.
Although, regarding the appointment of Suresh Raina as CSK's batting coach, there is no official statement from the club, but the on-air comments made the fans excited and the internet is flooded with homecoming messages for Raina.
Meanwhile, Raina faces a challenge as it is still uncertain whether MS Dhoni will make himself available for IPL 2026 or not. There are speculations that Thala is playing his final match against Gujarat Titans. At the time of writing this article, CSK are in a comfortable situation as Gujarat Titans are 105/5 after 12.4 overs, while requiring 126 to win off 43 balls.
