Dewald Brevis, often called “Baby ABD” because of his playing style similar to AB de Villiers, was on fire during Chennai Super Kings (CSK) match against Gujarat Titans in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. The game took place on Sunday, May 25, at the Narendra Modi Stadium.
Dewald Brevis Scores First Fifty For CSK
Brevis played an explosive innings, smashing the ball to all corners of the ground. He reached his half-century (50 runs) in just 19 balls, making it the second-fastest fifty in CSK’s IPL history. This happened in the 19th over when he hit Mohammed Siraj for two sixes and a four, and then took a single to complete his fifty.
It is worth noting that only Suresh Raina has done it faster for CSK, scoring 50 in just 16 balls against Punjab Kings.
MS Dhoni Claps For Dewald Brevis
This fifty made CSK fans happy and MS Dhoni, CSK’s legendary captain, also looked visibly happy and was seen smiling and clapping in the dugout as Brevis reached his milestone.
However, Brevis eventually got out on the last ball of the innings but not before scoring a blazing 57 off just 23 balls, which included 4 fours and 5 sixes.
Earlier in the game, CSK had a strong start thanks to Ayush Mhatre and Devon Conway, who scored 34 and 52 runs respectively. With Brevis’s powerful batting, CSK set a massive total of 231 runs, their fourth-highest score in IPL history.
