Team India wrested out a fighting draw against England at Old Trafford in Manchester last month, despite falling 311 runs behind the hosts at the halfway stage of the match. Moreover, India also lost blistering wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant early in the match itself owing to a nasty injury on his foot.
Since Pant was ruled out of India’s playing XI from the subsequent series-deciding fifth Test at The Oval, the cricketer is currently spending his time away from the game rehabilitating his injury, a frustrating spell on the sidelines that has laid bare his anguish.
Frustration Mounts For Rishabh Pant Amid Injury
On Wednesday, August 13, just a few weeks after sustaining a foot injury, Rishabh Pant has once again shared a picture of his injured foot. Taking to his Instagram story, the cricketer accompanied the image with an emoji, hinting at the emotional toll and mounting frustration of his prolonged recovery.
In the caption, Rishabh Pant wrote:
“I hate this sooo much”
Rishabh Pant sustained his injury while attempting a risky shot off England fast bowler Chris Woakes. The ball struck in his right foot, causing him to bleed as he struggled to stand.
Nonetheless, a couple of weeks after his injury, a report indicated that the cricketer might well miss the upcoming 2025 Men’s T20 Asia Cup in the UAE as well as the Test series against the West Indies.
While the 2025 Men’s T20 Asia Cup in the UAE will be played between September 9 and September 28 in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, Team India will subsequently host the West Indies cricket team for a two-match Test series in October. The series will also form a part of the 2025-27 WTC cycle.
